
Akis Bis
Akis Bis is the Managing Director and Market Investment Director of Intrum Investments Greece, responsible for Intrum Group’s portfolio investments and other vested investment interests in the Greek market. He also holds various Non-Executive Director roles for key Intrum Group entities operating in Greece.
From the time Akis joined Intrum in early 2019, Intrum has established a remarkable investment footprint in Greece, via the acquisition of seven large NPL portfolios, collectively amounting to over €18Bln in total legal claim, as well as investments of Mezzanine and Junior Notes in seven different HAPS securitizations of NPL portfolios aggregating to more than €30Bln in total legal claim. He was also a lead negotiator on the carve-out agreement from Piraeus Bank, which led into the creation of the significant NPL and REO servicing capability for Intrum in Greece.
Prior to Intrum, Akis was one of the pioneers in the development of the distressed debt market in Greece, as from 2013 he worked as Managing Director for Kaican LLP and the Cepal Group, partnering with international private equity investors Baupost and Centerbridge on distressed debt portfolio acquisitions, as well as the creation of two regulated debt servicing platforms: Credit M and Cepal.
He has more than twenty-five years of aggregate experience in banking & finance, M&A, structured finance, fintech services, electronic payments and money transfer. Before his career in distressed debt investments and servicing, Akis held regional and global senior leadership roles leading various functions for multinational banks and firms, such as: Citibank, Eurobank, First Data (Fiserv) and Western Union.
Akis has lived, studied and worked abroad and holds an MBA in Finance from the Oklahoma City University and a BS in Management from the Oklahoma State University.
