Transport and night time safety

Taxis & Ride-Sharing:

  • Use official black-and-yellow taxis or ride-hailing apps (Free Now, Cabify, Uber).
  • We don’t recommend hailing taxis as the drivers are sometimes working in partnership with thieves.
  • Always confirm the license plate and driver in the app.
  • Share ride details with someone you trust.

Hotel Tips:

Stay in well-reviewed neighborhoods (Eixample, Gràcia, Diagonal Mar (close to the venue)
Avoid walking alone at night in quiet areas.
Use hotel safes to store your passport and valuables.
Carry only what you need each day.

Barcelona is vibrant and full of life, but like many major cities, it's known for petty crime, especially in tourist areas.

Safety Tips:

  • Only have your phone out when necessary, do not keep it in your pockets (especially back pockets)
    - Don’t hang bags on chairs or leave phones on café tables.
    - Carry a crossbody bag or money belt that stays zipped and in front of you.
    - Avoid wearing expensive or flashy jewelry that might attract attention.
    - Keep your passport, large amounts of cash, and valuables locked in your hotel safe.
    - Be cautious of 'helpful strangers', staged distractions, or overly friendly street performers.
